Default The Three Degrees

Excerpt from the thread, The General Idea ...

The way I see it is cat has three names: 1) the name his master calls hims, for example say "Raph"; 2) his scientifc name (feline whatever); and 3) the name that nobody knows but the cat himself.

Hence there are the three degrees to the development of color TV which, I like to compare to the development of the Christian Church. First you have the development of radio, which allows you to hear but not truly see, because there is no picture. Second you have the development of black and white TV, where you can now see but, because it's in black and white you can't see the true picture. And third you have the development of color TV, where you can now truly see, in which case the whole thing goes without saying.

Thus in the beginning there was the Roman Catholic Church, which preached to the masses in a foreign tongue (Latin), to where the people can hear but not see (like radio). Then came the Protestant Church, which made the Bible accessible to the people (in their native tongue), to where they can now see as well as hear (like black and white TV). However, because there was no true interpretation (color), everyone resorted to their own interpretion. Ever wonder why there are so many denominations to the Protestant Church? Finally there's the only True Church which, because it's the only genuine interpretation (like color TV), it can be seen for what it is and pretty much goes about it's own business. Meaning, it doesn't find the need to draw a lot of attention to itself. Meow ...

If you would like to know what Church I'm referring to, please refer to the Swedenborg Foundation.

P.S. In case you hadn't guessed, this is me, Iacchus32.

You still have a two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional subject. You still see only what the camera is pointed at, not anything that the director does not want you to. The depth of field and focus may be manipulated to either enhance or diminish the picture compared with what we would see if we were there.

So, the Swedenborgers get to choose what you see, and tell you it is the whole of reality. And you believe that?

turn off the color tv, the black & white tv, the radio...and step outside and look at the real world.

The imagination can be a powerful tool, just look at what happened when people were given the Bible to read.

No, they get to see it for themselves, and don't have to repeat it necessarily.

Perhaps this suggests the nature of what I'm talking about ...

Quote:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. ~ Jeremiah 31:32-34
So doesn't this all sound pretty much self-explanatory?

Yeah, you should try getting your nose out from underneath your textbooks from time to time too.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

um...no. Not at all. Not even close. Self-explanatory? 3 sentences, out of context, with a vocabulary obviously dependent on the context. Sorry, this is utterly meaningless.

Don't pretend you know me. You have no idea of my life. My comment made reference to your analogy.

Actually, isn't this what helped fuel the Renaissance? Meow ...

However, it was something Swedenborg had written which brought this to my attention which, is why I use it in this context. Meow ...
